宜蘭の堆積岩を海のネガとして現像する印刷実験

宜蘭（台湾）の堆積岩は、かつて海底に在った。波による長年の侵食——露波——が、岩の表面に海の記憶を刻んだ。岩はすでに、海のネガなのではないか。

drift-printは、このネガをリソグラフ印刷によって現像するプロジェクトだ。一見すると海の写真集に見えるが、海の写真は一枚も含まれていない。岩肌をグレースケールに変換し、青・黒のインクに置換してリソグラフ印刷にかけると、岩に刻まれた海の潜像が立ち上がる。リソグラフ固有の版ズレは誤差ではなく操作として機能し、波の躍動と奥行きを生む。ズレの偶発性によって刷るたびに唯一の一枚が現れる。

drift-print is a printing experiment that develops the memory of the sea from photographs of rock, through the substitution of ink. At first glance the images appear to be seascapes — yet every subject is sedimentary rock from Yilan, Taiwan. By printing rock photographs in two colors, blue and black, a seascape emerges from within the terrain. Beyond the substitution of color, the experiment also makes use of misregistration — an inherent error of Risograph printing — to amplify the sense of movement and depth that give the sea its quality of flux.
